Brock Lesnar versus Frank Mir: Kroz’s Thoughts

I may have not mentioned it in my page before but I am a HUGE Professional Wrestling fan. I remember, as a child, watching Psycho Sid turning on Hulk Hogan by leaving him in their tag team match, as well as feeling my heart beat raise when The Undertaker confronted the Fake Undertaker for the first time. Even as a child I was fascinated with professional wrestling’s entertainment value and as I grew up, I slowly realized that it is actually choreographed and scripted. But that did not slow down my interest with sports-entertainment. I hated how people labeled it as "Fake" and that all those wrestlers are just juiced up actors that can’t actually win a fight. Although there are some wrestling stars whom I think are better entertainers than they are fighters, there are still many superstars whom I think can hold their own in a real fight. And Brock Lesnar was one of those superstars.

Brock is a legit tough guy in my point of view. Even not considering his amateur wrestling record, there are still many factors that could prove that Lesnar is a tough S.O.B. I mean just look at his physique. His upper body just looks unreal. He’s got muscles where I dont even have places! haha! And the way how he achieves that physique is also unbelievable. His training routine is just almost inhuman. He carry used to carry around a huge log over his shoulders while he jogs, he soaks himself in a tub of ice every after workout, he just pushes his body to the limit and that is a sure indication that he is a true athlete.

 Then when Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) garnered mainstream attention, it was just phenomenal. Everybody’s reaction was just "HOLY SH#T!!!" We were seeing a real fight like we’ve never seen it before on TV. It was organized, sanctioned and legitimate. It has the realism of boxing and some entertainment value of professional wrestling. People loved it.

So people started wondering, myself included, what if one of the big names in professional wrestling would step inside the real world of the octagon. Now we will find out, On Febuary 2, 2008, Brock Lesnar steps in the octagon for the first time and its not against any fighter. He is going head to head with former UFC World Champion, Frank Mir. This is what I have been waiting for. Even though Lesnar said that he doesnt care, it doesnt change the fact that he’s got a lot to prove. I mean, back in the World Wrestling Entertainment, he was hyped as an unstoppable force and Brock carried it well that a lot of people actually believed it. Now, can you imagine how Lesnar would look winning in a dominant fashion? This will not only affect his image but the reputation of all professional wrestlers.  Personally, I would want to see Lesnar win the title in the UFC but that would be for another day. For now, I am awaiting how the Brock Lesnar/Frank Mir bout would turn out. Go Rock ‘em Brock!

Buda Trip Video Tribute

 Its so nice to spend a weekend in a special place with people you care about. This was the case with me last weekend (January 26 & 27, 2008). My High School Friends and I went to this place called "Buda", the border area between Bukidnon and Davao. I’ve always admired the ambience and the environment in Buda but its extra nice when I’m with my true friends. It was so much fun. We cooked, ate, drank (one threw up ), danced, slept (for 3 hours only), hiked, swam in the pool, hiked some more and all through out I tried to document every important moment thus I was able to make this tribute video. 

The song is called "Better Days" by the Goo Goo Dolls. if you listen to the song, you might notice that it is actually a Christmas Song. Well, our trip to Buda was sort of a late Christmas Party since we werent able to celebrate it last December. 

 If you’re in the Philippines or at least you can afford to go, I strongly suggest you spend a day or two in Buda. If you don’t know any place to stay in, email me and I might let you rent our place out (you can see it in the video). And I also suggest that you spend your time there with your close friends.

Meet The Spartans: DJ Kroz Remix

This is a video I made recently when I had nothing to do. I know it could be better but i do like it as it is now. After this, I want to make more videos like this because it’s fun to make as it is to watch. 

About the Movie 

I’m not really sure if I’d want to watch "Meet the Spartans". I mean these are the guys that brought us the "Scary Movies" series and if you ask me, the latest installments of that series was already too tiresome to watch. But hey, maybe this video might help spark some interest in a few people. Who knows?  

To Leave as the Joker.

It was about 6:30 AM when I was dressing up for work when I heard something from the television in our dining room that caught my attention. It was the news and the words I heard were "…the cause of death is unknown", "he played the role as Joker in the upcoming movie, The Dark Knight." Right then and there, I had an idea of what the news was talking about but I couldn’t believe it so I had to make sure. I immediately logged on to yahoo.com and there it was. On the front page, posted there only 15 minutes ago, it said "Heath Ledger Dies."

I couldn’t believe it. Just when I finally appreciated his skills as an actor, he was taken away. Don’t get me wrong. I totally respected him in his courageous take on his role in "Brokeback Mountain", but I’m really captivated by Method Actors. Artists such as Johnny Depp, Edward Norton, Glen Close and Anthony Hopkins have all proven how deep they can get just to be able to project the perfect interpretation of their characters i.e. Depp’s "Scissorhands" and Hopkin’s "Hannibal". And now Ledger has finally portrayed a character that is found in the level of those roles mentioned; The Joker. 

When I first heard about Ledger being given the role, I didn’t know what to expect. I’ve only known the actor best for his performance in "A Knight’s Tale". I did not doubt him nor was I excited about it. I just had no idea. Then came along the pictures and the statements from his co-stars. The Joker’s appearance was certainly a fresh take on the character and we have Director Christopher Nolan saying that it Ledger’s Joker will surprise us all. Michael Caine, who plays Alfred Pennyworth, claimed that he was so scared of Ledger’s Joker that in one scene, he actually forgot his line. That is saying a lot coming from a veteran like Caine. Then I saw the first teaser of The Dark Knight. It showed nothing but a disintegrating Batman Symbol and audio clips of the dialogues in the film. Then at the end, you can hear the Joker’s laugh. When I heard that laugh, I was ovewhelmed. After hearing that, I somehow knew that this Joker is going to be different and that this is going to be Heath Ledger like we’ve never seen him before. Then by December 2007, the official trailer of the film was released (if you haven’t seen it yet, GO FIND IT!) . When the Joker’s face was first shown in the trailer, it was after he said "…evening commissioner!" and he was sitting in a jail cell. With total honesty, I could say that I had goosebumps all over. His face was so menacing and intriguing which is how the character is supposed to be. I couldn’t wait for July 18, 2008 which was the slated release date of The Dark Knight. I also felt happy for Heath Ledger becauseI could tell that this was the role that would put him on mainstream attention. That he will experience success like never before. The future was looking bright for this actor.

Then along came January 22, 2008. Heath Ledger was found dead. He was 28. It was just too sad. He had so much ahead of him

Since, as of this time, the cause of Ledger’s death is still under investigation, I will not dwell on this subject.

I just know that the world has lost a great artist and a lot of opportunities to enjoy his talent. The only saving grace I could think of is that playing a very iconic character such as the Joker would be an ideal way to give your final performance. God bless Heathcliff Andrew Ledger’s soul and may his memory live on forever. When The Dark Knight hits the theater, I will spare no time to watch it. This is my little way of honoring his legacy.
