Manny Pacquiao Defeats Juan Manuel Marquez by Split Decision

Finally, the title now belongs to the rightful holder. Manny "The Pacman" Pacquiao is the new WBC Super-Featherweight Champion of the World and is now the first Asian Boxer to hold World Titles in three different weight divisions. 

It was a real close fight but Pacman’s strength and heart that proved to be too much for Dinamita to dominate. Honestly, I was little disappointed for not seeing the oh s explosive Pacman during this fight but I guess a boxer can’t always be aggressive and get away with it. Still, that one knockdown by Manny got me roaring. Well, its better than none at all.

So what’s next? Considering how the fight went and that the final judgment was split, another face-off is only appropriate for Pacquiao and Marquez. Hopefully, for that fight, Pacman shall pack a bigger bite!

Manny Pacquiao versus Juan Manuel Marquez Thoughts

Finally, after years of pursuit, Philippine’s pride, Manny Pacquiao, has now been given the chance to claim what’s rightfully his; The World Title. He’s has barbarically eliminated all the top contenders in the featherweight division. Through the words of top boxing analysts around the world, the Pacman is the people’s champ, the uncrowned champion, some even claim that he should be recognized as the best pound for pound fighter in the world… All those titles yet no belt to show for it.

 And today, March 16, 2008 (Philippine Time), we witness what is Pacquiao willing to do just to prove to the world that he is THE Champ.

So how will Manny do against Juan Manuel? Let me just say this: Dynamita doesnt have an explosion big enough for the Pacman to devour. 

All that Marquez has to show off is his counter-punching ability. Well that aint much considering that he is facing a man who always have the two things needed to dminate a fight; superior speed and power. They say that Marquez gets the upper hand in terms of the psychological factor due to his experience but if you’ve seen Pacquiao’s past fights, you’d know that his opponents arent given much time to think about anything in the ring. Pacman is simply like the Energizer Bunny who just keeps going and going. No matter how quick you are in evading punches, those fists WILL catch you. And once those gloves hit you, it rarely fails to hurt.

Another important factor in this match is the last time that these men faced off. Everybody, and i am sure that Marquez is inlcuded, knows that Pacquiao had that match won. Even the judge who declared a tie score admitted that he made a mistake. For crying out loud, Pacman knocked Dynamita three times in that match.

Still, anything can happen in a match, so I’m just hoping that when the smoke clears, we will see Manny Pacquiao holding the Philippine flag in one hand and in the other hand is the WBC Super Featherweight Title Belt. 

My Discovery of Death Note

Note: The following article does not contain any spoilers. So go ahead. Its safe.

I’ve been hearing them for months now. Death Note this.. Death Note that… Obviously this new phenomenon from the land of the rising sun has got everybody talking. So, naturally, it got me curious. Then eventualy, my curiousity became too much for me to handle. I had to know what so special about this story.

So today I got that chance.  Manong E., the kind computer technician from the school where I teach, told me that he’s got a copy of the complete series of the Death Note: Anime. "Do you want a copy" he asked. "Sure!" I replied. That was it. Now I have my chance of discovering what’s so good about "Death Note".  I had very little idea about it, but somehow, the thought of finally figuring it out got mereally excited.

So tonight my girlfriend and I went to this cafe where we were allowed to plug in my Macbook. As we got there, I looked for a tablethat’s near an electrical outlet and we ended up in this dark spot in the smoking area. I will then realize that that spot will be helpful in setting up the mood. 

After I ordered my Green Tea and Roast Beef Sandwich and my girl’s Pine-orange Juice and Banana Fan-tastic, we got right to it. Episode 1 started out with the theme song and I realized that this sounded familiar to me. It must’ve been one of those songs that my Anime-Freak co-worker in the past used to play in our work room. It was catchy. Right then and there, I was already liking this Anime show. This episode basically presented us the main character, LIght, and of course, the Death Note and its powers. It was such a compelling episode. Just what I expected and hoped for. I remember, after watching through episode 1, my girlfriend and I looked at each other and grinned, we both found the story SICK! We loved it! 

We took a break after episode 1. Then after finishing our meal, we got back to it. Episode 2 was even better. Light shared his philosophy about the power of the Death Note and let me just say, he’s got a good argument going. Also, we got introduced to another interesting and significant character who goes only by the name of "L". And oh man, the twist in this episode is just that… TWISTED! It’s so good that even if you’ve read this and now know that there is a twist, it would still give you some sort of shock.

So now, I have only sat through two episodes of Death Note: Anime yet I am already hooked. Manong E. was right all along when he said, "Start it and you can’t stop watching." I am definitely looking forward to watching the rest of the series or the other forms of the story. This is because, apparantly, this story originated from a Manga Comic Series and was adapted to different sorts of media such as Novel, Film and TV. So if you haven’t even discovered it yet, I higly sugget that you go find the Death Note.

Oh MY GAWD!!! After watching Janina San Miguel making her long, painful, embarassing speech, and knowing that she won afterwards, I almost passed out in embarrassment.  Even more shameful were the judge. Haaay… I’ve always read about controversies in the Philippines beauty pageants but this was just plain ridiculous.

Well I hope their conscience are clean because not many of us will be able to live with this! 

On Filipino Cellphone Sex Scandals

    last night, I was with my friends at home and one of them borrowed a cellphone from another to view the collection of sex scandals in there. I was a bit amazed of how many sex videos that cellphone has. It just went to prove that these kinda stuff isn’t as uncommon it is anymore. And dare I say, isn’t as shocking as it was before too. Don’t get me wrong, I do know some people personally who has "starred" in those kind of videos. One friend of mine even has a collection of his own and he is more than willing to share them with me. I even have friends who are unlucky enough to have their videos spread to other people’s phones. And let me tell you, when you have someone close to you suffer that ordeal, its an unpleasant feeling. Once, I even want to beat the hell out of whoever was responsible for spreading that video.

So Who’s to Blame?
     Once you get over the rage, disgust or excitement, you’ll realize that there’s no one else responsible but those people in those videos. They’re the ones who "documented" their activity, so they are responsible for whatever happens to that video afterwards. Do I think that recording your sexcapades is wrong? Hell No! I completely understand why people would do such things.  And I won’t lie to you and say that I dont find it a turn on. Personally, I do have those sorts of fantasies. Bottomline is, if recording your sexual activites will help your relationships maintain the heat, then you are welcome to do so at your own risk. Just as long as all the people involved agree to doing it.

What can be done to help? 

    If you know someone who is involved in such videos and you have viewed them, don’t be so Over Reactive! People have sex! Get over it! Unless it involves bestiality, pedophilia or any other outrageously disgusting sexual acts, what gives you the right to look at those people with judgemental eyes? So the next time you view a Sex Scandal on somebody’s phone, go ahead and watch, look away or even enjoy it, but when you reach the end of that Video File, MOVE ON! It was just another sexual intercourse, which practically EVERYBODY DOES!
